Some of our hair ornaments are crafted entirely by hand whereas others have been pre-loved. Combining unexpected elements such as soft, luminous feathers, vintage jewelry, heritage millinery, re-purposed trim, textural flowers, quills, Swarovski crystals, natural fibers and luxe fabrics, we offer one-of-a-kind works of art. We occasionally give new life to previously loved pieces by creatively restoring them with a light touch to reflect a modern sensibility. Still other pieces are so special that when we encounter them in our constant search for the "unique", we include them in our Collection "as-is" with little, if any, alteration. We feel that age-appropriate wear and patina are often an important part of the piece's personality.
In addition to offering hair ornaments for parties, The Feathered Head specializes in custom-designed wedding headpieces for brides, mother-of-the-bride and attendants for the wedding day and surrounding events (engagement party, showers, rehearsal dinner, etc). Using a bride's sense of style, level of formality, colors, theme and overall desires as our guide, we can create a commissioned piece or suggest options currently available in our Bridal Collection. Our specialty is incorporating a treasured family heirloom, such as a grandmother's brooch, into our custom designs. Dedicated to offering our clients the most personalized service possible, we are not satisfied until we have created the perfect expression of each bride's individuality and vision of her wedding day.
