Alluring. Mysterious. There's just something special about a cocktail headpiece, fascinator or vintage hat with a birdcage veil. Whether it's full full-face or just a hit of veiling seductively dipping over one eye, birdcage veils show that old Hollywood glamour is still alive and well (and on-trend). Featuring French Net, Chenille-flocked Russian Veiling or tulle, they are oh-so-chic for cocktail parties, black tie events, a day at the races or anytime you want all eyes on you!
The Feathered Head
A "whimsy" consists of an embellished veil that covers the head, much like a fascinator. Typical trims included flowers, feathers, fruit, ribbons, and bows. This style was meant to complement 1950s and 1960s bouffant hairstyles. A lovely example is Elisobelle, a deep purple/eggplant colored linen mini-base with bow surrounded by white millinery petals and green leaves. Her dark veiling goes all the way around the head and can be bobby-pinned to secure her to your head. Very lady-like and very pretty! Hat base is 4" wide, bow is 4.5" wide, veil is 6" from base.
